About Founders of Sci-Fi

Science fiction has always been more than entertainment — it’s a laboratory for ideas, a way of asking “what if?” and imagining the future before it arrives. The origins of modern sci-fi trace back to a handful of bold writers who first dared to push beyond the limits of their time.

Founders of Sci-Fi is dedicated to those beginnings. From Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein to Jules Verne’s extraordinary voyages and H.G. Wells’ social critiques, these early visionaries laid the foundation for the genre we know today.

Who’s Behind It

I’m AJ, an independent writer and lifelong sci-fi enthusiast. I created this site to bring together research, insights, and resources for anyone curious about the roots of science fiction. I’m not trying to be exhaustive or academic — think of this site as a guided tour with signposts to dig deeper if you’d like.

I also run other niche projects, including War of the Worlds Central, a site devoted entirely to H.G. Wells’ classic invasion tale. That same mix of curiosity and research fuels this project.

Looking Ahead

The site currently focuses on three key Founders — Mary Shelley, Jules Verne, and H.G. Wells. I may expand this collection in the future when time and curiosity align.
